Maria Vella-Galea

Maria Vella-Galea, Logistics, Administration, Athlete

Maria is fairly new to the sport of triathlon having taken part in her first sprint triathlon race in the spring of 2010. A chance encounter with Charlie Demanuele led her to get involved in the organisation of the 2011 113K triathlon and this involvement led her to register for her first Ironman 70.3 race in Antwerp, Belgium.

Four weeks prior to the race Maria was involved in an accident, when she was thrown off her bike causing her to break her wrist and sustain damage to her knee. Not put off by this experience, Maria crossed the finish line (with a waterproof cast and knee brace) with a huge smile on her face.  Maria has subsequently taken part in two 113k races in Malta,  Ironman 70.3 in Haugesund, Norway and Budapest, Hungary and also completed Ironman Austria.  Maria has also completed the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon as well as competed in the International Triathlon Union circuit for two years running - 2013 and 2014.

Maria has a wealth of experience in Marketing, Public Relations and Event Management which compliments Charlie’s race experience.

In her limited free time Maria also competes in equestrian events, mainly show jumping, is an avid traveller and enjoys a spot of photography when the opportunity comes along.
